A story about teachers who chose to build together, learn from each other, and believe that every lesson can ignite the spark of curiosity in a student.
Some changes don't always start with a project or a strategy. They start with a simple question: how can we get students to think like little researchers?
Over 3000 teachers participated in the Fizica Altfel training program organized by the Center for Educational Evaluation and Analysis (CEAE) and discovered the power of inquiry-based learning. They saw that when students ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, seek explanations and discover the answers themselves, physics becomes more than a subject. It becomes an adventure of knowledge.
Back in their schools, teachers began to apply these ideas in the classroom. They created experiments, worksheets, learning units based predominantly on inquiry, examples of good practice. They shared experiences within the Support Mechanism, participated in webinars and discovered that every challenge has, somewhere, a colleague who has already found a solution.
Thus was born a simple but powerful conviction: together we can do more than each one separately. From this conviction, in 2023, the idea of the Fizica Altfel Community was born. With the support of the Romanian-American Foundation and CEAE, a group of enthusiastic teachers began to build more than a professional network — a community based on trust, collaboration, and a sincere desire to help others.
Meeting after meeting, in Bucharest, Sibiu, Brașov, and many other work contexts, the community grew. The teachers discussed challenges in their schools, shared resources, created educational materials, defined the values that unite them, and outlined a common direction. They understood that they were united not only by their passion for physics. They were united by the belief that every student deserves to discover the world through questions, observations, and investigations.
Today, the Asociația Comunitatea Fizica Altfel is made up of teachers who learn from each other, co-create educational resources, and offer support whenever a new challenge arises. Because we know that the best ideas are born when they are shared.
If you share the same vision, we invite you to join us.
Join the communityDirectly supporting teachers interested in using scientific inquiry in the classroom, by providing educational resources, examples of good practices and professional training, to make physics more attractive to students in as many schools as possible.
We want every student to have the authentic chance to learn physics by investigating the world around them, and every teacher to be part of a professional community that inspires and supports them.
